Hey there! I’m Sheila, a Minnesota girl who’s established roots in Utah. My love for cooking surfaced four years ago when I met the love of my life, Sam. After moving to Utah with him, I was quite homesick and cooking soon became an outlet for me to stay connected to my Minnesota home. I started out by simply sharing my food pictures with my friends and family on Facebook. As I grew more passionate for cooking, that passion quickly inspired me to turn what I love to do into this blog, sheiladipity.
I love to cook for a few reasons. First, I love cooking for the people I love. It’s hard labor sometimes but it’s one way I like to express love and appreciation to others. I take pride in making quality food and would love to host my own supper clubs in the future. Second, cooking makes me feel close to home, as it also allows me to embrace my Hmong roots. When I speak of home, I think of the house I grew up in, my parents, brothers and sisters. When I cook certain Hmong dishes, it takes me back to the memories with them. As I’ve transitioned into a new chapter in my life, I think of the memories I want to build with my husband Sam and the children we hope to raise together one day. Last, I love food and eating! I love the way food always taste better when you’re eating in the company of family and friends. It’s a break we all need to take from our busy lives and sit together, be present, and connect. I love that.
I hope that this little space on the internet allows you to feel inspired to try new things, embrace uncertainty, and take chances. Thank you for following along and for growing with me as we embark on this journey together.
